Today’s most Awesome Quote
Which is, I guess, actually Wednesday’s quote, as it’s from Weekly:
“What kind of lame-ass Pacific Rim city is this, anyway?”

I ♥ wordpress!
I had just gone through and backed up the blog and reinstalled the software (it’s running the latest version now, peoples) when I was asked to upgrade the settings.
Page 1: This file upgrades you from any previous version of WordPress to the latest. It may take a while though, so be patient. Link to upgrade.
Page 2: There’s actually only one step. So if you see this, you’re done.
I am tired and easily entertained, but that sent me laughing for a long while.
Oh dear.
I had a job interview today, and I can honestly say I have no idea how it went. A friend says it went well; I don’t know.
Paperwork is going forward. It feels as if it’s taking baby steps, but considering where we were just four months ago, I’ve gotten miles and miles ahead. And as I was telling Lucas this weekend: even when I am bored and underentertained, the worst day here it still way better than the best one where we still didn’t know if I’d be able to come over at all. He makes it worth it.
We went down to PLU today, which was an odd, odd feeling. For one, it was empty due to Spring Break, and sinceĀ I’ve left, a building and a half has popped up. It was strange. We were due to visit Darren and Lucas’ former boss Kris, but D was away temporarily when we showed up, and Kris was sick. So all that remained was to go the glorious, glorious India Mahal. So tasty. We died.
Now, let’s hope for that job, shall we?
I am all kinds of fond of La Redoute, coming from an aesthetic perspective. However, in terms of service, they SUCK. Worldwide. Last week I made an order for a lovely blouse, a sweater, and a coat. It took several days before the order was processed and shipped, and the shipping cost was, IMO, pretty damn high for USPS standard. Oh well. But then I check my bank statement, and see that there is about $80 more than there should be.
Ooops? Turned out the coat was sold out (I found this after extensive browsing of their web catalog) and was thus canceled. Did someone inform me of this? Did anyone give me the option to, I don’t know, change size (I wouldn’t, but what if?) or cancel my whole order?
No. No one told me anything, and while there was a small note on my “your order status” page that was linked to from the notification email, it wasn’t mentioned in the email.
Incompetent! Common courtesy would involve informing me and giving me the chance to change my mind. Now I have to find a coat I can wear for job hunting and later to work, and I am out of places to look. It was perfect.
(Meanwhile, I love Azalea for not only sending me an automated ‘your stuff has shipped’ email, but a personalized one from someone at Sales. You’re gold, guys.)
For those of you interested in what I write in Swedish:
this is the place for you: http://tatortstimotej.blogsome.com/
And that’s pretty much all for today, guys.
I had Thai food for breakfast.
Listen to is. Isn’t it beautiful?
I had Thai food for breakfast.
Granted, it was leftovers, but with yummy sauce, baby corn, cashews, peppers and onions, who gives a damn? If I could remember the name of the place – Araya’s, in the general Wallingford area, although technically in the U District, in Seattle – I would recommend it. And now I do. The only reason it’s not the best place I’ve ever eaten at is that I prefer Indian cuisine before Thai, honestly.
But the occasion. The occasion is that Lucas and I were married yesterday! Despite the fact that it was a simple afternoon thing with only two witnesses, us, a photograph (the much appreciated mr. Kevin Freitas) and the judge, it managed to take most of the day. Had my makeup done at MAC, KJ did my hair, dealt with the repairperson dealing with gas furnace…
But we’re married! And it makes me happy. My Lucas looks very handsome in a suit; I can prove it.

Oh. hi.
I forgot this place. Again. Well, the good news is that I am in Seattle now. I am liking Ballard already, although the apartment is in need of some annage. It’s not bad; it’s just that Lucas didn’t want to decorate too much before I was here, the walls are yellow, and we have about three times as many books as we have shelving space. But books are good, so there is no grief there. IKEA exists and is wonderful, and we have already found a shelf and desk we want. The kitchen is a harder nut to crack; there is an electricity cupboard right where I wanted another shelf, and there’s not enough room for plates. But I’ll think of something.
There is, despite the being homeness, a certain adjustment to be made. We went to obtain some necessary stuff (pillow, hairdryer, etc.) yesterday, and found Northgate Mall without electricity due to the storm. Since today is bound to be even worse, I am slightly worried. On the other hand, the Seattle times says that previous stormy days have ripped off leaves and loose branches so that the damage might be less this time. We’ll see.
Oh, and I turn 23 today.
Another quick note:
Tomorrow and Monday are stress.
Tuesday, I am going HOME!
Wednesday is Lucia day, but something tells me I won’t celebrate much.
Thursday is my birthday; I shall be twenty-three.
But I am going home! Yay Seattle!
Approved. Visa is sent to me – was sent to me last Friday, actually, so the mother’s address change must have messed things up. BUT I AM GOING. Hoo fucking ray.
I feel so jubilant it’s not even funny. Except I don’t – there has been no sinking in. And now, since I spent half the morning on hold with the embassy, I need to shower. Because I smell.
